Idina Menzel & Billy Porter In Talks to Join Camila Cabello In 'Cinderella'

This casting would be a dream straight from the heart!

Idina Menzel is in negotiations to join Camila Cabello in Sony’s Cinderella, portraying the evil stepmother with Billy Porter in talks to play The Fairy Godmother. Screenwriter Kay Cannon, best known for all three Pitch Perfect films, will serve as director for the future movie project.

It was announced back in April that Camila Cabello will be playing Cinderella and the movie will serve as the pop superstar's acting debut. The Cinderella concept was supposedly inspired by an original idea from Late Late Show host James Corden, who will produce the project with Fulwell 73 colleague Leo Pearlman.

Idina Menzel is best known as the voice of Elsa in Disney’s Frozen, in which she sang the Academy Award winning song “Let It Go." She reprises her voice role in the upcoming Frozen 2. Billy Porter was last seen making history at the 2019 Emmys becoming the first openly gay black man to win an Emmy in the lead actor category. Porter will be featured on Menzel's upcoming Christmas album titled Christmas: A Season of Love. The album will be released on October 18, 2019.

Filming is set to begin in London early next year.
