'Pretty Woman: The Musical' To Close In August

Pretty Woman: The Musical will play its final performance on August 18, one year after the show opened on Broadway.

The musical will have played 27 preview performances and 421 regular performances at the time of closing. Previously announced, the musical will set out on a North American tour in October 2020 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Pretty Woman features a score by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, a book by Garry Marshall and J.F. Lawton and direction by Jerry Mitchell. According to Broadway News, the production started out its run with high grosses, regularly reaching $1 million a week and breaking the Nederlander Theatre’s box office record four times. However, since January, grosses have slumped, with the musical bringing in $538,553 in the week ended June 30, 2019, its lowest gross for an eight-show week.

Pretty Woman will close the same day as The Cher Show and King Kong. Details for the North American tour will be announced at a later date.
