This August, Broadway will say farewell to two spectacular musicals, The Cher Show and King Kong.
The Cher Show will play its final performance on August 18, 2019 following 34 previews and 296 regular performances. The National Tour will launch in Rochester, NY in October 2020.
Additionally, King Kong will play its final Broadway performance on August 18, 2019 following 324 performances and 29 previews at the Broadway Theatre. It was recently revealed that King Kong will open in Shanghai in 2021 with a North American tour in development.
The Cher Show received two Tony Awards this year including Stephanie J. Block for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role and Bob Mackie for Best Costume Design of a Musical.
Previously announced, The Prom will play its final performance on Sunday, August 11, 2019. Be More Chill will also close on the same date.
