"I love this piece dearly. What I love about the show is, it's about connection and community and it's about who we are at the core of ourselves, as human beings and as Americans. It takes place in the middle of a depression and I believe the depression was a defining moment in terms of our American identity because no matter who you were or where you were from, everyone was knocked down to level one again."
