Michael Urie Talks 'Grand Horizons' & Working With Jane Alexander

73rd Annual Tony Awards - Red Carpet

This week on the Inside Broadway podcast, Michael Riedel and Christine Nagy chat with Michael Urie about his role in the new play Grand Horizons. He talks about working with the legendary actors Jane Alexander and James Cromwell and his path on becoming an actor.

Urie describes his character in Grand Horizons, "There's someone in the play for everyone to relate to, but for lots of reasons my character is closest to me and the most relatable to me. He is a high school drama teacher and he prides himself on being someone who casts everyone that auditions. Every kid who wants a part gets ones. He is doing a production of The Crucible with over 200 kids which is obviously insane, but also beautiful... I am really inspired by this guy! If I was a theatre teacher that's what I would want to be like."

Grand Horizons is playing a limited run through March 1 at the Hayes Theater. For tickets and more information, visit their official website. Listen to the full podcast in the player below.
