Stephanie Jae Park is taking center stage on Broadway as Catherine Parr in Six: The Musical, bringing fresh energy and perspective to the role of Henry VIII's sixth and final wife. As she immersed herself in the role, Park came to view Catherine Parr as the quiet force holding the queens together. "As I was learning this show and going through it, I realized that Catherine Parr is kind of the silent leader of the group," she says.
Before joining Six, Park built an impressive Broadway résumé with performances in The King and I, War Paint, and a celebrated five-year journey in Hamilton, where she progressed from tour standby to Broadway lead as Eliza. Raised on Guam in a deeply musical family, Park discovered theater as a way to combine her passions for music, dance, and storytelling, eventually turning those interests into a thriving career on some of the world's biggest stages.
Each night in Six, the role demands both vocal power and physical endurance. Park shares that the production is one of the most physically demanding shows she has performed in years, requiring a disciplined routine of physical and vocal warm-ups, mental preparation through affirmations, and careful recovery after every performance.
