Now playing at the Longacre Theatre, the two-hander stars Christiani Pitts as Robin, a New Yorker simply trying to make it through the day. Financial stress, mental health challenges, and emotional fatigue weigh heavily on her life until an unexpected encounter changes everything.Robin’s day collides with Dougal, a wide-eyed tourist from the UK played by Sam Tutty in his Broadway debut. While Dougal arrives in New York expecting movie-magic at every turn, Robin has long since stopped looking for it. Their unlikely journey across the city becomes a powerful exchange: optimism meets realism, and both characters are transformed in the process.
After originating in London’s West End and making its American premiere in Boston, the show now feels at home on Broadway. Pitts describes it as a love letter to New York, to musical theater, and to shared humanity, a sentiment echoed by audiences who often leave the theater describing the experience as “a warm hug.”
The production also marks Pitts’ return to Broadway and her first as a mother. She credits the show with helping her navigate the emotional highs and lows of both life and the industry, while giving her daughter a front-row seat to watching her live out her dreams. With only two actors onstage for the entire show, preparation is essential. Pitts’ pre-show ritual centers on meditation, grounding, and focus—necessary for a performance with nowhere to hide and everything to feel.
