Darren Criss & Helen J Shen Set Final Performances in Maybe Happy Ending

The producers of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical MAYBE HAPPY ENDING announce the final performances for the two original Broadway leads: Tony, Emmy, Golden Globe Award-winner and 2026 Grammy Award-nominee Darren Criss and Theatre World Award-winner and 2026 Grammy Award-nominee Helen J Shen.  

Helen J Shen will depart the production first, playing her final performance as “Claire” on Sunday, February 15, 2026. The role of “Claire” will be played by current Standby Hannah Kevitt from Tuesday, February 17 through Thursday, April 2, followed next by current Standby Claire Kwon from Friday, April 3 through Sunday, May 17

Darren Criss will play his final performance as “Oliver” on Sunday, May 17, 2026.   

Current original cast members and 2026-Grammy Award-nominees Dez Duron and Marcus Choi continue to perform in the production at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street).

The Standbys for the role of “Oliver” will continue to be played by both Steven Huynh (also the “James” Standby) and Christopher James Tamayo (also the “Gil” Standby), while Daniel May continues to be the Standby for “James” and “Gil”. 

A forthcoming casting announcement for the next Helperbots: “Oliver” and “Claire” will be made at a later date.

Casting is by The Telsey Office, Craig Burns, CSA, the Production Stage Manager is Justin Scribner and Foresight Theatrical is the General Manager.

The cast on Broadway currently stars Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winner Darren Criss (American BuffaloHedwig and the Angry Inch, “Glee,” “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story”), Theatre World Award-winner Helen J Shen (The Lonely FewTeeth), Dez Duron (NBC’s “The Voice”),  Marcus Choi (Wicked, Flower Drum Song) as well as Steven Huynh (“Blue Bloods”, CBS); Hannah Kevitt (Back to the Future, Broadway), Daniel May (Flower Drum Song, Broadway; Soft Power, Signature Theatre), Christopher James Tamayo (Les Miserables, National Tour) and Claire Kwon (Almost Famous, Broadwaywho round out the production as the Standbys.

Maybe Happy Ending opened on Broadway on November 12, 2024 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th St.) to immense critical and audience acclaim, with the show being selected as the “Best Theatre of 2024” by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, The Washington Post, Time Out NY and Entertainment Weekly and many others. 

In addition to continuing on Broadway, Maybe Happy Ending will embark on a multi-year North American tour beginning in the Fall of 2026. Launching in Baltimore at the Hippodrome Theatre at The France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, the tour has stops planned in 30+ cities including Los Angeles, D.C., Chicago, Tampa, St. Louis, Detroit, San Francisco, Providence and many other cities. Additional engagements, casting and the route for the tour’s first year will be announced soon. 

Maybe Happy Ending is the story of a chance encounter that sparks connection, adventure, and maybe even love. It is the offbeat and captivating story of two outcasts near the end of their warranty who discover that even robots can be swept off their feet. Helmed by visionary director and Tony Award- winner Michael Arden with a dazzling scenic design by Tony Award-winner Dane Laffrey and book, music, and lyrics by the internationally acclaimed duo, Tony Award-winners Will Aronson and Hue Park, Maybe Happy Ending is a fresh, original musical that reminds us what it means to be human and that love is never obsolete.

Maybe Happy Ending was written in both Korean and English-language versions. The Korean-language version opened in December of 2016 at DaeMyung Culture Factory in Seoul and subsequently won six Korean Musical Awards including Best Musical. The English-language version was awarded the 2017 Richard Rodgers Production Award and had its U.S. premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta in the 2019-2020 season under the direction of Michael Arden.

Tickets are on sale through July 19, 2026 at the Belasco Theatre box office, at Telecharge or by calling 212-239-6200. 

Maybe Happy Ending In-Person Rush: Each day the box office is open, beginning at 10:00am and Sundays at 12:00pm, a limited number of rush tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rush tickets are sold day-of at the box office for $40 (inclusive of fees).  

Maybe Happy Ending Digital Rush: Patrons may purchase rush tickets online at https://rush.telecharge.com/ from 11am on the day of the performance. Tickets are $45 each (inclusive of fees), limited to 2 per customer. Tickets are subject to availability and can be added throughout the day; fans are encouraged to check back if they find tickets are unavailable via the digital rush.

Maybe Happy Ending Telecharge Digital Lottery: The digital lottery provides theatregoers access to affordable tickets. Patrons may enter the lottery from 12am to 3pm one day before the performance. Winners drawn at 10am and 3pm may purchase up to two tickets for $20.64 each starting today (inclusive of fees). The digital lottery is available at: rush.telecharge.com. 

Maybe Happy Ending “Club 2064”: The special digital lottery ticket initiative titled Club 2064,” (named after the year the show takes place) is available for performances.  Fans are able to enter the digital lottery for a chance to win and purchase a pair of tickets for just $20.64 each by entering the lottery at rush.telecharge.com. Each drawing will offer a limited number of tickets; with the potential for additional drawings for every performance following, based on availability. Ticket locations will be in prime seats in the mezzanine or orchestra and are all based on availability.
