Betsy Wolfe On Bringing Joy Mangano's Life To The Stage In 'Joy'

Broadway standout Betsy Wolfe, Tony-nominated for her work in &  Juliet  in 2023, brought her infectious energy to iHeartRadio Broadway. In an engaging sit-down with host Danielle Monaro, Wolfe delved into stepping into the iconic shoes of real-life inventor Joy Mangano in the Off‑Broadway musical Joy: A New True Musical.

Based on the real-life story of the woman behind the Miracle Mop, the show explores the grit, heartbreak, and resilience it takes to turn an idea into a legacy. During the interview, Wolfe shared that Joy is one of the most complex characters she’s ever taken on, equal parts mother, dreamer, underdog, and relentless fighter. Wolfe spoke candidly about connecting to the role not just as a performer, but as a mother. Her young daughter has fallen in love with the show, to the point where she’s memorized most of the songs!
