'La La Land' Musical Film Will Be Adapted For Broadway

According to a report by Deadline, the Oscar winning film La La Land will be adapted into a Broadway musical. The 2016 original film featured music by Justin Hurwitz, lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Ayad Akhtar and Matthew Decker. The original film starred Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, Finn Wittrock, Callie Hernandez, Sonoya Mizuno, Jessica Rothe, Tom Everett Scott and Josh Pence.

In a statement to Deadline, Marc Platt, who will serve as Executive Producer said "We've assembled a world-class team to create a musical that will delight La La Land's millions of current dans and introduce the property to a while new audience.

The La La Land musical adaptation will be helmed by director Bartlett Sher and will feature music by the film’s composer Justin Hurwitz and lyrics by the composing team Pasek and Paul.

La La Land was the darling of the 2016 award shows and went on to win Oscars for best director for Damien Chazelle, actress in a leading role for Emma Stone, production design, cinematography, original score, and original song.

A timeline for production and casting will be announced at a later date.
