This highly anticipated reimagining of the beloved musical stars Ansel Elgort as Tony; Ariana DeBose as Anita; David Alvarez as Bernardo; Mike Faist as Riff; Brian d’Arcy James as Officer Krupke; Corey Stoll as Lieutenant Schrank; Josh Andrés Rivera as Chino; Rita Moreno as Valentina; and introducing Rachel Zegler as Maria. West Side Story has been adapted for the screen from the original 1957 Broadway show with original choreography by Jerome Robbins. The stage play features a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, play conceived, directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, music by Leonard Bernstein.
Bringing together the best of both Broadway and Hollywood, the film’s creative team includes Kushner as an executive producer; Justin Peck as choreographer, Gustavo Dudamel, who helmed the recording of the iconic score; composer and conductor David Newman, who arranged the score, composer Jeanine Tesori, who supervised the cast on vocals; and music supervisor Matt Sullivan, who serves as executive music producer for the film. The film is produced by Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger, and Kevin McCollum.
West Side Story is set to drop in theaters on December 10, 2021.
