Jasmine Cephas Jones Chats About Her Debut EP 'Blue Bird'

Last week Jasmine Cephas Jones (Hamilton, #FreeRayShawn, Cyrano) joined SJ Arnegger (Director, iHeartRadio Broadway) to talk about her latest project and what she has been working on during quarantine. Jasmine's debut EP, titled Blue Bird, recently dropped on all music streaming services, including iHeartRadio. Jasmine describes writing Blue Bird as coming from place of strength when she needed it the most after moving to Los Angeles and that she never thought of herself as a writer. Jasmines goes on to explain that the name of the EP also has a special meaning as her father, This Is Us star Ron Cephas Jones, nicknamed her "Bird" after the great jazz musician Charlie Parker.

Speaking of her Father, Jasmine talks about the special history-making moment that she and her Father shared recently. Jasmine and Ron became the first Father-Daughter duo to ever win Emmy's in the same year during last month's award show. Jasmine took home the Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Short From Comedy or Drama Series for her role in the Quibi series #FreeRayShawn as Ron won his second Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in Drama Series for the NBC hit drama This Is Us.

Rounding out the interview, Jasmines reflects on the cultural moment that Hamilton is still having as the production continues to stream on Disney+ and she also talks about what's next with upcoming TV and film project.
