Sabrina Carpenter To Produce & Star In Netflix's 'Alice In Wonderland' Film

Sabrina Carpenter is reimagining Alice in Wonderland for Netflix!

The actress will star and produce an upcoming musical film adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s beloved fantasy fairytale, titled Alice, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Carpenter, who also served as an executive producer on Netflix's Work It, will release the project from her newly-minted banner, At Last Productions.

“Too excited for this... @netflix at last productions 🥺🌹 we’re going to wonderland!” the singer wrote with the announcement via Instagram on Monday (October 5).

Although few details have been made known on the movie at this time, THR reports that Alice will have a contemporary narrative, and is described as a “modern-day musical … set against the backdrop of a music festival called ‘Wonderland.’”

Carpenter, Leslie Morgenstein (The Sun Is Also a Star) and Elysa Dutton (Everything, Everything) will produce the project for Alloy Entertainment, with Ross Evans (Catch the Moon), writing the screenplay.

Alice is the latest of the 21-year-old’s film ventures with Netflix, having previously starred in several flicks from the network including Horns, Tall Girl, and Work It. Carpenter’s other acting credits include the book-to-screen movie The Hate U Give, the Broadway musical production of Tina Fey’s cult classic movie, Mean Girls, and the forthcoming Disney+ film Clouds, premiering October 16.

Film projects aside, Carpenter recently announced a new remix of her song "Wow" with Swedish singer Zara Larsson, debuting Wednesday (October 7).
