Two years after receiving the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play, The Boys in the Band will premiere on Netflix this fall. Joe Mantello will once again direct the cast with Ryan Murphy producing the film for the streaming service. The Boys in the Band will be available on Netflix on September 30th and will include the entire cast that was featured in the 2018 Revival. The cast: Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Matt Bomer, Robin De Jesús, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington, Tuc Watkins and Charlie Carver.
The movie is based on the play by the late Mart Crowley which tells the story of a group of gay men who come together in a New York City Apartment to celebrate a friend's birthday. Over the course of the party issues and heartache are exposed. The Boys in the Band is widely considered to be one of the seminal pieces of queer storytelling of the 20th century and was first produced in Off-Broadway in 1968.
