Broadway Producer Scott Rudin has cast Dustin Hoffman in a 2021 Broadway staging of Our Town, to be directed by Bartlett Sher (To Kill A Mockingbird). According to Deadline, Hoffman will play the role of the Stage Manager in the classic Thornton Wilder play.
Hoffman was last seen on Broadway in his Tony Award-nominated performance as Shylock in 1989’s The Merchant of Venice. Other Broadway credits include Willy Loman in the 1984 revival of Arthur Miller’sDeath of a Salesman, and appearances in productions such as Jimmy Shine, The Subject Was Roses and A Cook for Mr. General.
Sher was Tony-nominated for To Kill A Mockingbird (also produced by Rudin). Other stage credits include 2018’s My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, The King and I, The Bridges of Madison County, Joe Turner’s Come and Goneand his Tony-winning South Pacific in 2008 bringing him to nine Tony Award nominations.
Our Town was last seen on Broadway at the Booth Theatre in 2002, with Paul Newman as The Stage Manager. Further details regarding casting and a production schedule will be announced at a later date.
