The 24 Hour Plays Partner With Classic Black For New Viral Monologues

The latest edition of The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues is a a special one. They have partnered with Classic Black for a special event featuring Black artists to benefit Communities United for Police Reform. This event will begin tonight, June 9, 2020, and go through June 13, 2020. The special performances have been curated by Portia and russell g. as Classic Black productions baptized in our stories. It will contain thriteen very powerful pieces beginning at 6pm.

With a belief in the transformative power of theatrical experiences and the potential for artists to be partners in change, we are excited to be raising funds forCommunities United for Police Reform (CPR) is an unprecedented campaign to end discriminatory policing practices in New York and to build a lasting movement that promotes public safety and reduces reliance on policing. CPR runs coalitions of over 200 local, statewide and national organizations, bringing together a movement of community members, lawyers, researchers and activists to work for change. The partners in this campaign come from all 5 boroughs, from all walks of life and represent many of those most unfairly targeted by the NYPD.

This week's performers are Stephanie Berry, Keith Arthur Bolden, Cherise Boothe, Rosalyn Coleman, Nina Domingue Glover, Benton Greene, Susan Heyward, Angela Lewis, Craig Scott, Elijah Smith, Salena Steward, Tamara Williams, and Kara Young. The writers are Zakkiyah Alexander, Dennis A. Allen II, Christina Anderson, Beresford Bennett, Amina Henry, Angie Bridgette Jones, Jaymes Jorsling, Shawn Randall, Monique A.
