Nick Cordero Undergoes Surgery For Temporary Pacemaker After Leg Amputation

Nick Cordero has undergone a procedure for a temporary pacemaker after having his leg amputated due to COVID-19 complications.

On Friday (April 24), the Broadway actor's wife, Amanda Kloots, 39, took to Instagram Story to shed some insight about her husband, 41, and his medical updates. In her posts, she revealed that doctors decided to put a temporary pacemaker into Cordero after he experienced some irregular heartbeats. "I just got a call from the doctors about Nick. It looks like he had some irregular heart-beating last night that scared them enough to want to do a temporary pacemaker in Nick's heart," she told followers. "His heart is functioning well, but he has had these dips in his heart rate for a little while now, and this one last time apparently was enough that requires them to do this procedure to put a temporary pacemaker in his heart."

Cordero's pacemaker is set to assist in stabilizing his heart rate any time professionals “move him or do some procedures in the future to help him continually to get better." Hours later, she revealed that the procedure went well. "He's doing okay after the pacemaker [was] put in," she continued, adding, "Everything is good."

As per a Thursday update from Kloots, his inner circle has been "in a bit of a waiting game" as doctors believe he "should have woken up" by now after her was taken out of sedation.

In case you’re just following along, Cordero was admitted to a hospital for breathing difficulties after being diagnosed with pneumonia. Shortly after, he tested positive for coronavirus after testing negative twice for the virus. Unfortunately, things went south when he became unconscious, was placed in a medically induced coma and underwent emergency surgery after doctors found a new infection in his lung. While recovering, the actor began having issues with blood clots, which prompted doctors to amputate his right leg.

If you want to help the couple cover the cost of hospital bills, a GoFundMe account has been created in his honor. At time of press, more than $441,000 had been raised.
