Billie Joe Armstrong Celebrates 'American Idiot' Broadway 10th Anniversary

We may not be able to go to musicals right now, but Billie Joe Armstrong celebrated the 10th anniversary of American Idiot opening on Broadway on Monday (April 20).

"It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago American Idiot musical debuted on Broadway," he wrote in a celebratory Instagram post. "Not in my wildest imagination .. to all the cast and crew!! All my rage and love."

John Gallagher Jr. (the actor who played Johnny in the musical) also celebrated the milestone with his own heartfelt post. "It’s hard to believe 10 years have come and passed since Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT opened on Broadway," he wrote. "It was a fiery and all consuming thing that I threw myself into with wild abandon. I’m forever grateful to be a part of it and I cherish all the gifts it has given me throughout the decade. Happy anniversary to my idiot family! Rage and love forever and ever."

The anniversary isn't all Green Day has to celebrate lately. Last week, the band broke an impressive chart record with its latest single "Oh Yeah." The Father of All... track topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, which means Green Day broke the record for the longest span of No. Alt 1 songs, with over 25 years of No. 1 Alt hits.
