Get ready for Matilda to head back to the big screen! According to The Hollywood Reporter Matilda the Musical is getting adapted for the big screen and Netlfix. In the United Kingdom the adaptation will be released in theaters while in the United States and other parts of the world the film will be released directly for streaming.
This is a partnership by Sony Pictures and Netlfix, and as of right now it's unclear when the UK theatrical release will be released for streaming on Netflix.
What we do know right now is that the movie will be directed by Matthew Warchus, who also directed the stage musical. The screenplay will be written by Dennis Kelly, who took home the Tony for best book for adapting the Roald Dahl classic novel to a musical.
