'Mean Girls' Musical To Be Adapted To A Major Motion Picture

Mean Girls, the hit Broadway musical is going back to the big screen! This time the Broadway musical will be adapted for a major motion picture. That film will be produced by Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels, feature a script by Fey and music by Jeff Richmond with lyrics by Neil Benjamin.

Tina Fey said this about the announcement:

I’m very excited to bring Mean Girls back to the big screen. It's been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I've spent sixteen years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly.

Mean Girls is currently playing the August Wilson Theatre, where is has broken multiple box office records.

This wasn't the only big news for the hit musical. Producers also announced that they had recouped its capitalization and that it's in the works to bring the show to London's West End in the late spring of 2021.
