'Sing Street' Opening on Broadway in April 2020

The New York Theatre Workshop has a hit new musical on their hands and it's heading to Broadway! They announced that Sing Street will be heading to the Lyceum Theatre with performances starting March 26th and an official opening of April 19, 2020. What's even better about this news is that it will transfer directly to Broadway and star members of the NYTWS cast.

Sing Street is currently playing a sold-out engagement at the New York Theatre Workshop.

The official synopsis:

Dublin, 1982. Everyone is out of work. Thousands are seeking bluer skies across the Irish Sea. Sixteen-year-old Conor and his schoolmates turn to music to escape troubles at home and impress a mysterious girl. With a score that embraces the new wave sounds of the era, SING STREET celebrates the thrill of first love and the power of music.

The show stars Max Bartos, Brendan C. Callahan, Billy Carter, Zara Devlin, Martin Moran, Anne L. Nathan, Johnny Newcomb, Brenock O'Connor, Glan Perez, Sam Poon, Skyler Volpe, Amy Warren, Ilan Eskenazi, Anthony Genovesi, and more casting to be announced soon.

Sing Street is directed by Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman and features a book by Enda Walsh, and music and lyrics from Gary Clark & John Carney. Choreography is by Obie Award winner Sonya Tayeh.
