Big casting news for The Devil Wears Prada! We finally know who will be playing Miranda and Andy in the new musical from Sir Elton John. Just announced today, Tony Award-winner Beth Leavel will play Miranda Priestly, while Taylor Iman Jones will play her assistant, Andy Sachs.
The new musical is set to premiere at Broadway in Chicago July 13th through August 15th before its New York Broadway engagement. It will play at Chicago's COBC Theatre.
The production team on this musical is nothing short of amazing. The music is by Sir Elton John, with lyrics by Shaina Taub. It features a book by Paul Rudnick, with direction by Tony Award-winner Anna D. Shapiro. Joining the all-star lineup is James Alsop as the production coordinator.
Producer Kevin McCollum had this to say on the casting news:
I am so thrilled that Beth Leavel, one of the American theater’s great leading artists, will be playing one of the most powerful and feared women in popular culture. Producing The Drowsy Chaperone and seeing Beth win the Tony Award for her performance was a career highlight for me and I know that she will create a brilliant Miranda.
