'The Who's Tommy' Getting Broadway Revival in 2021

Desert Trip - Weekend 2 - Day 3

Are you ready to rock Broadway once again?

The Who's Tommy is set for an official revival in 2021. Broadway News reports that Des McAnuff will return to direct this production, the first revival of Tommy since the original run from 1993 to 1995.

Tommy features music and lyrics by Pete Townshend, along with a book from Townshend and McAnuff. The show is based on The Who's 1969 album about a dead and blind boy named Tommy who is able to express himself by playing pinball. It first hit the stage in 1971 at the Seattle Opera House before becoming a 1975 feature film.

This revival is produced by Hal Luftig anf Patrick Catullo. In a press release Luftig said:

In every producer’s career a show comes along that feels like a perfect fit. To have Pete and Des look at ‘Tommy’ again is extremely exciting and feels just right. I’m thrilled to bring Tommy back home to Broadway where it belongs!

A theater and exact dates of the production have yet to be announced.
