Michael Cerveris, and more Set for ‘The Who's Tommy’ Staged Concert

Opening Night Of "Mike Birbiglia: The New One"

On October 14, 2019 a staged concert of The Who's Tommy will take place at the La Jolla Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre. Proceeds of this concert will benefit artistic, education, and outreach programs at the regional company.

The concert will be directed by Tommy director and co-book writer Des McAnuff. It will also feature several members of the original Broadway cast and a special appearance from The Who's Pete Townsend.

Performers from the original cast will include, Michael Cerveris, Jonathan Dokuchitz, Cheryl Freeman, Christopher Hoff, Paul Kandal, Donnie Kehr, Norm Lewis, Michael McElroy, Lee Morgan, and Alice Ripley.

The official synopsis for Tommy:

Based on The Who’s 1969 rock concept album, the musical follows young Tommy, who retreats into a world of darkness and silence after a deeply traumatic incident, but when he discovers a newfound talent for pinball, he’s swept up in the fame and fortune of his success.
