Alexandra Billings To Play Madame Morrible In 'Wicked'

Starting January 20th, 2020, Alexandra Billings will play Madame Morrible in the Broadway production of Wicked. Billings will make history, being the first openly transgender actress to play the role.

Nancy Opel will play her final performance as Madame Morrible on Sunday, January 19th, 2020. Billings will join the current cast which includes Hannah Corneau as Elphaba, Ginna Claire Mason as Glinda, Michael McCormick as The Wizard, Jake Boyd as Fiyero, Riley Costello as Boq, Jamie Jackson as Doctor Dillamond, and Gizel Jiménez as Nessarose.

Wicked is approaching its 16th anniversary on Broadway. The show is directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello with musical staging by Tony winner Wayne Cilento. The choreography for the show is by Wayne Cilento and music direction by Stephen Oremus.

Billings has played roles in both television and film such as Davina on Transparent. She has also appeared in Goliath, How to Get Away With Murder, and Grey’s Anatomy.
