Casting Announced For New York City Center Gala Presentation of 'Evita'

Just announced today, we finally know who will be playing the title role in the New York City Center's Gala presentation of Evita. The production will have two actors in the title role.

Playing Eva from ages 15-20 is award-winning Argentinian actor Maia Reficco. Actor Solea Pfeiffer (pictured above)will play Eva from ages 20-33 in the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice rock-opera. Evita will be directed by Sammi Cannold, who will "utilize visual storytelling to explore new depths within the text and provide a unique perspective on Eva's troubled adolescence."

From the official press release, Cannold said;

I am deeply passionate about bringing Evita to City Center. And after completing an international casting search as well as extensive research throughout Argentina, I’m especially excited to highlight new dimensions of Eva Perón’s extraordinary story in this production.

The creative team for Evita includes Associate Director Rebecca Aparicio, Music Director Kristen Blodgette, and Co-Choreographers Valeria Solomonoff and Emily Maltby.
