Disney Theatrical Acquires Fox Stage Productions

Fox Stage Productions will be taken over by Disney Theatrical Productions beginning Wednesday. 

Walt Disney Company completed its acquisition of the assets of 21st Century Fox, as of March 20, 2019. According to Broadway News, the theatrical arm of Fox, which developed stage adaptations of films in the Fox catalog, was created in 2013, with upcoming titles including the musicals Mrs. Doubtfire and The Devil Wears Prada.

The brand new Mrs. Doubtfire musical is set to have its world premiere at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre this November.

The Devil Wears Prada is still in early production, however, Tony Award-winner Anna D. Shapiro will direct the upcoming musical, with music by Sir Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub, and book by Paul Rudnick.

Disney Theatrical did not have a comment at this time.
