ABC News Live is collaborating with The Broadway League and Disney Theatrical Productions for a Pride special at New Amsterdam Theatre. This special, which begins on June 30th at 11am ET, will feature a performance of“Seasons of Love” from the musical Rent. This will be performed by Waitress actress Shoshana Bean and Be More Chill actor George Salazar.
Both Bean and Salazar are veterans of the Broadway stage. Bean made her Broadway debut in the original cast of Hairspray and later played the first replacement of Elphaba in Wicked. She currently has the role of Jenna in Waitress.
Salazar made his Broadway debut in Stephen Schwartz’s Godspell in 2011. Salazar made multiple Off-Broadway appearances but returned to the Broadway stage in 2018 to play Michael Mell in Be More Chill. Musicians Will Van Dyke, Christopher Rice, and Mason Ingram will be on keyboard and percussion.
The special performance of “Seasons of Love” will also feature many other Broadway actors and actresses including Ainsley Melham (Aladdin), Ryann Redmond (Frozen), Patrick Vaill (Oklahoma!), Bonita Hamilton (The Lion King), Wilson Cruz (Rent), and Callum Francis (Kinky Boots).
ABC News Live will also be airing live coverage of the World Pride Closing Ceremony Concert in Times Square from noon until 4pm.
