According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Tony Awards will not be televised on June 11th after the Writers Guild Of America denied a request for a waiver to allow the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League to air the Tony Awards on CBS and Paramount+. The Tony Awards management team, which is made up of League president Charlotte St. Martin, American Theatre Wing president Heather Hitchens and various Broadway producers, will be meeting on Monday to determine the next steps for how the Tony Awards will be presented this year.

The Hollywood Reporter stats that the Tony Awards Management Committee had petitioned the WGA by showcasing how 'financially struggling Broadway shows depend on exposure from the Tonys telecast from a box office bump." The options for a path forward would be to keep the June 11th date and hold a non-televised award show with nominees and media in attendance or to postpone the Tony Awards to a later date once the WGA strike has concluded.

This is an ongoing story, and we will continue to bring you updates and the situation develops.
