Princess Diana Musical, 'Diana,' To Arrive On Broadway Next Spring

Joe DiPietro-David Bryan's new musical about the late Princess of Wales, Diana, will arrive on Broadway this spring!

According to The New York Times, performances will begin at the Longacre Theatre on March 2, 2020, with opening night set for March 31. Earlier this year, the production made its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre in San Diego, California.

Jeanna de Waal and Roe Hartrampf, who played "Diana" and "Prince Charles" at La Jolla, are heading for Broadway with the musical. Diana follows the life of the late Princess of Wales who, overnight, became the most famous woman in the world. However, behind that fairytale, there was a troubled marriage and a young woman struggling to find her voice.

The full creative team includes scenic design by Tony Award-winner David Zinn, costume design by Tony Award-winner William Ivey Long, lighting design by Tony Award-winner Natasha Katz, sound design by Tony Award-nominee Gareth Owen, orchestrations by Tony Award-nominee John Clancy, and casting by Telsey + Company.

Diana will follow the previously announced limited run of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical which begins performances Friday, September 20, 2019 ahead of a Wednesday, October 16, 2019 opening night.
